...When I was in the 5th grade, I knew I had a thing for words and pictures.
I doodled on my spelling tests. When the teacher would give a test, she had a routine where she would "say the word / use it in a sentence / repeat the word" with each spelling word. Spelling (and words in general) came easy for me, so I would quickly write the word and have plenty time left over to draw a tiny illustration in the margin before she finished. It got to the point that the teacher told me she actually looked forward to grading my tests because my illustrations kept getting increasingly clever. It's not often that a spelling test makes a teacher smile. (That same teacher gave me an S-minus-minus for talking too much in class, but that's another story...) Fast forward several years, and you'll find me loving the fact that I get to bring words and images together to help people. For me, design isn't just pushing pixels around on a screen. I get to create dynamic projects that clarify your message and connect with your customers. Most business owners struggle with writing good material.
